Just off I-75 in the Appalachian Mountains of Tennessee you’ll find an Art Center with a Gift Shop full of handmade, one-of-a-kind arts and crafts produced by talented local artisans. For over 50 years, the Appalachian Arts Craft Center (AACC) has been the go-to stop for locals and tourists looking for that unique item for themselves or a gift for others. Here’s six great reasons to make a visit to AACC:
1. Show Support for Local Artists
With over 50 juried artists and craftspeople represented, your patronage supports our local arts community. Most days, you’ll find some of our artists working at the center. They would love to meet you and help you find that perfect Appalachian craft piece. To learn more about our team of local artists click here.
2. Take an Award-Winning Arts & Crafts Class
At AACC, we relish the opportunity to teach crafts to others. Awarded Best of the Best Art Classes in 2021 by Cityview Magazine, we offer affordable arts and crafts classes – ranging from beginner to advanced. Our most popular classes include painting, pottery, weaving, and jewelry-making. See the current offerings and register at the arts & crafts classes tab or visit our Facebook page.
3. Find Unique, One-of-a-Kind Home Decor
Looking for something to add a little life to your home decor? Or a handcrafted gift for a friend or family member? We have that. Plus, you’ll find fine crafts at a variety of prices. Our Gift Shop is loaded with locally-crafted woodworking, hand-woven blankets, artisan jewelry, original stained glass designs, Appalachian-themed note cards and much more. Come and see for yourself!
4. Pick up a FREE Make-at-Home Children’s Craft Kit
It can be difficult to find affordable children’s activities nowadays. In our Craft Cottage, mounted on our front porch wall, we create and stock fun kits made just for kids! Stop by anytime and choose one for your child.
5. Practice Your Craft in Our Pottery & Weaving Studios
Looking for a place to practice your craft? We have a pottery studio and a weaving studio on site. Chances are you’ll see artists in action on your visit. Contact us to find out how to become a practicing member of our art community.
6. Join a Group of Like-Minded People
Are you a local artist looking for a market for your wares? AACC is home to more than 50 like-minded artisans and we regularly look for new artists to join our community. Learn more about our selection process by visiting the Seller/Jury Info tab on our website or stopping by the center.
