Debra Lovvorn Belvin

I grew up appreciating the beauty of my native East Tennessee but I did not pursue landscape painting until my senior year at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Before that time, my art courses at Auburn and UTK did not use landscape as subject manner. Taking a watercolor class made me realize that painting nature was my passion so I continued to paint it after graduation.

As an art teacher, my students’ creativity and enthusiasm challenged and inspired me to take graduate courses so together we could express our ideas in new mediums. Now retired, I enjoy pursuing my interpretations of nature and landscape in multiple media.

My work has been in numerous juried exhibits and in one-man shows at the regional galleries of Hunter Museum of Art and Knoxville Museum of Art. The Opryland Hotel, Olan Mills, former chancellor of UTK and mayor of Knoxville are some of the companies and individuals that have purchased my work.
