Mary Lee Keeler

I’m a Knoxville native, returned after 3 states and 16 years of following my husband’s corporate career. My B.S. in Education is just part of being a life-long learner.  Creative projects are a passion.  A stained-glass class in 2008 fueled a new interest that resulted in becoming a selling member at Appalachian Arts Crafts Center in 2011. For a little variety I also dye corn husks to make flowers.

Stained-glass brings me joy in the varied but orderly process.  No short cuts in this medium, but the high level of concentration required creates a soothing rhythm.  I am usually drawn to a subject which leads to a pattern, glass selection and finally construction. Nature themes are my favorite.  Many projects begin with a desire to commemorate an event – wedding, birth, travel, holiday, or memorials.

Through stained glass I hope to create a visual memory the way aromas or sounds can bring back moments in life.
