If I were Ashley, our newly appointed Executive Director to lead the AACC, I would take one look at the outdated sales ticket process and say wow, we can sure improve that process to help the desk worker record sales easier, faster, and reduce the labor intensive process to post sales so juried artists can be paid in a timely fashion.
Not only that, AACC office personnel do not have a system or the resources to analyze sales to determine what sells when and why. So, if I were Ashley I would look at systems that would help the AACC solve those problems.
Now you may wonder why I said all of the above.
Because she did just that and made a proposal to the Board during the March meeting. Ashley proposed that the AACC purchase a point-of sale system that desk workers will find easy to use and capture sales data in a computer at the time of sale.
The Board unanimously approved. The system, Square, is in wide use by small businesses, is tried and true, and provides excellent customer support. It is also inexpensive and easy to use and learn.
The system will soon be delivered and training will start as soon as the program and schedules are finalized. Now, if I were Ashley, my next project would be to? But that will have to wait –one thing at a time.
