What are the Tuesday Weavers up to?

If you visit the Center on a Tuesday (please do we love visitors), you will notice a number of weavers working away on inkle looms. We have exciting news. The Tuesday Weavers are participating in the planning for a big gathering of international fiber folks which will be held in Knoxville next summer. It is the bi-annual Handweavers Guild of America Convergence. Approximately 1800 fiber folks will be in attendance. Our leader, Carol Pritcher and member Patty Benton are both working on the Convergence tour committee. The Center will be included in the tour thanks to their efforts. The Tuesday Weavers participated in the early planning meetings which choose names for several competitions during the conference.

But back to the inkle weaving. Tuesday Weavers are weaving enough narrow inkle bands to make 1800 key rings for the conference “goody bags.” The rings will have a tag promoting the Center too and will be lovely. Heading up this massive effort is weaver extraordinaire, Tina Job. Our collective goal is to weave 500 yards of inkle bands by early next year and then to cut and sew them onto a key ring. To date we have woven 62 yards, only 438 yards to go. We will do it!!
